Wanderer / Monarch Butterflies

Here is a website for the Butterfly.

It gives it as uncommon for Victoria - I have never had a problem attracting them when I have the right plant growing - the Swan Plant. But not a lot of people grow them now.

So I have seeds at the minute, for anyone wanting them.

My Puppie's garden used to have a lot of caterpillars when I went home for a holiday 2 yrs ago. We let them eat as much as they can waiting for them to come out beautifully as butterflies. Sad things was: when we got lots of red ants, we sprayed some insecticides and from then on we never see them again not until recently. Is it really pesticides or they are just so elusive? Thanks for the lovely pix! I come down here thru Gardening for Dummies site.

I have the impression that they are more a mountain thing. I remember my uncle catching butterflies when I was little. We live in the High Country now and have had butterflies for two seasons, though not in a row. We do grow swan plants. I saw the butterflies around the shed today.

I have a small photo on my blog.
